Soil
In 1584, Yvorne was almost completely buried by a landslide of gravel, sand and clay. The village was later rebuilt on this rounded slope and vineyards were planted. This created the unique soil that gives the wine its mineral and flint aromas. Clos du Rocher is an exceptional Yvorne winery: nestled on cliffs, it is protected from the cold wind and benefits from its location on a southern hillside. The gravel-infused, water-permeable soil warms the vines.
